In this page: renting a house and a warehouse, your home door and save point, home furniture, placing furniture, lamps and TV, sitting, safekeeping at the warehouse and locked villas.
Renting a house
Your first home is a rented house. Talk to the Estate Agent with E. There is no list to pick from. You talk, the agent answers, and the conversation ends with "Deal. I need to sleep." Then the deal runs and the game shows the price: "The rental fee is X per day." The rent is billed daily (see Bank and bills).
In co-op, only the host can talk to the estate agent.
Renting a warehouse
A warehouse is rented from a separate agent. You need a registered company first: "To rent a warehouse, you need to register a company first." The usual order in the early game is: rent a house, found your company, then rent a warehouse. See City and travel for the Registration Office and Warehouse for what to do with it.
Your home door and save point
Your front door is your home. On the map it shows as Your Home / Save Game. It is also your save point, so you can save the game from there.
Home furniture
Press B for the tablet, open Shops and choose Home Furniture (the Furniture Wholesaler). Press Open and then Buy on an item. You need a house first: "Get a house first to buy from this store."
Items unlock as you level up. In the first levels you get simple things like a carpet, chairs and a laundry basket. Next come a coffee table, a dishwasher and sofas. After that, lamps and a single bed, then a flat TV, a TV stand and more sofas. Check the shop for what is open for you now.
The shop also sells kitchen and dining items: fridges, an oven, a microwave, a washing machine, a kitchen counter, dining tables and dining chairs. There are more carpets (large, round, runner and oval) and pieces for the living room and bedroom: a double bed, a nightstand, a wardrobe, a bookshelf, a desk and a potted plant. Items sold in every edition include the Fridge Freezer, Kitchen Stove, Dining Table, Dining Chair and four rugs: Large Rug, Round Rug, Runner Rug and Large Oval Rug.
The shop may refuse a purchase and tell you why:
- "You need an empty slot to buy a stuff."
- "You need more money."
- "You've reached to max stack."
- "You need more level." or "Reach level X to buy this."
Placing furniture
Take the furniture from your hotbar into your home. Left click to place it. Turn the mouse wheel to rotate it before you place.
Lamps and TV
Appliances such as the fridge, oven, microwave and washing machine are decoration for now: you place them, but they do not open or switch on yet.
Look at a lamp and press E to Turn on or Turn off. The TV works the same way: Turn on TV or Turn off TV.
When the TV is on, press F to Change channel. The channels are City Cam, Fireplace and News. The next channel is picked at random and is always different from the one before. The News channel shows a ticker with lines like "New shops are opening across the city." Lamps and TV start switched off whenever you load the game.
Sitting
Look at a chair, sofa or bed and press E to Sit (or Lie down). If someone is already there it says Taken. To get up, press E, move or press Space. If the furniture is moved while you sit, you stand up.
Safekeeping at the warehouse
Safekeeping holds items for you at the warehouse. You collect them there, not at home: "Go to the warehouse to take items." Use Take 1 or Take as many as fit. You can filter by All, Company or Mine. The screen shows "Inventory: X/Y free". If your inventory is full: "Your inventory is full." Some entries say Owner is playing or Ready after the next save.
When you buy something with no free slot, the purchase is refused, so free a slot first.
Villas
Villas exist in the city, but you cannot buy or rent one yet. A villa door shows Locked and the message "This house is locked."
Company types that are not open yet
Starting a home rental company is not open yet. Real Estate ("You can buy houses and rent them daily.") is listed in the Registration Office as Soon and opens in a later update. Rent a Car ("You can rent your vehicles.") is Soon too. Buying and placing home furniture does not need either company.
Tips
- Rent a house early. You need one for the Home Furniture shop.
- Keep a free hotbar slot before you buy furniture.
- Save from your home door when you finish a session.
