The museum is a company of its own. You hunt mystery boxes around the city, open them for artifacts, and place them in your museum. Visitors pay to see them.
Founding the museum
- Reach the required level. In the Registration Office the Museum Operations row says "Unlocks at level {N}" until then.
- When you are ready the row shows Founding cost and Ready to found.
- Press Found the museum. The game asks "Found the museum?" with Found it or Not now.
- Afterwards the button becomes Open museum page.
In co-op, only the host can found the museum: "Only the host can found the museum." Everyone else sees "You need level {N} to found the museum." when the level is not enough.
You can rename the museum and change its logo later with Change name/logo (Museum name, Museum logo). Hold Save to confirm. This is free and only the host can do it.
The curator
The Curator works at the museum. Talk to them with E. Their menu:
- Open a box
- Take the till
- Give me a hint
- Waiting artifacts
- See you later
If you have no box, the curator says "You have no box to open. Go for a walk around the city." If nothing is waiting, "Nothing is waiting." Once you found them all: "You found every box in the city. Well done!"
On your first talk, a short intro runs. You can Skip, press Next, finish with Got it, and hear it again later with Hear the intro again.
Finding mystery boxes
Boxes are hidden around the city. They are not pins on the map. The map shows only the museum building. To find boxes:
- Ask the curator for a hint with Give me a hint.
- Open the tablet's Museum app, Overview tab. Box hunt shows how many boxes are left in each region, or Done.
- Listen and look. A box near you glitters and makes a sound.
Some boxes lie underwater, so do not only look on land.
To take one, aim at it and left click on Pick up. A box takes one hotbar slot and does not stack. If your bag is full, the box goes to the curator's waiting list instead. In co-op, everyone sees "{player} found a mystery box." If two players go for the same box: "Someone grabbed this box before you."
Opening a box
- Bring the box to the curator and choose Open a box.
- Press Open. After a few boxes a Quick Open button appears. Hold to skip the short animation.
- A card shows New artifact! with its rarity: Common, Rare, Very Rare or Legendary. Use Its story to read about it.
- Press Take it, or Next box to open the next one. The card shows "Boxes on you: {N}" and "Artifacts left: {N}".
If your bag is full: "Your bag is full. The artifact was added to the curator's waiting list." Then Take it is disabled and you press Close. Pick it up later from Waiting artifacts.
When you open the very last one: "The last artifact is open! Place them all to complete the collection."
Placing artifacts
Every artifact has its own spot in the museum. Carry the artifact in your hotbar. Your hand must be empty or hold a museum item. Aim at the spot and left click on Place artifact. You earn XP for each one.
You cannot take a placed artifact back. If you do not know where one goes, use Mark its place and the map and guide will point to the entrance or the spot while you carry an unplaced artifact.
The tablet notifies you at 20, 40, 60 and 80 placed artifacts. When all of them are placed, you get Complete Collection: a plaque you can read (Read the plaque) and an achievement for you (not for co-op guests).
Opening hours and tickets
The museum is open from 09:00 to 19:00. Visitors come in while it is open.
In the tablet's Museum app open Tickets. You set two prices: Single ticket and Ticket for two. Press Save. If a price is not valid: "Enter a valid price." On success: "Ticket prices updated." The Visitors by price chart and the Now: {price} label show where you stand. The feedback tells you how visitors react: "Visitors are fine with this price.", "The price is high, visitors may drop." or "Most visitors will stay away at this price."
With no artifacts placed yet: "No visitors yet. Placed artifacts draw them in."
The till
Ticket money collects in the till. At closing time, staff expenses are taken from it first. To collect, either talk to the curator and choose Take the till, or open the tablet's Till tab and press Collect takings. Guests in co-op can collect too, and the money goes to the shared balance. If it is empty: "The till is empty. It fills up as visitors arrive."
Museum Rent and Museum Upkeep are separate bills (see Bank and bills).
Reports
The Reports tab keeps the last 7 closed days, and adds Today. You see Gross income, Single tickets, Tickets for two, Artifacts placed today, Popularity, Net and Visitors. Expenses cover staff only. A new museum says "The chart fills in after the first full day."
At closing time a message summarises the day: "The museum had {N} visitors today, net {amount}." If nobody came: "Nobody visited the museum today. Placing an artifact helps." Use Open the report to jump to the Reports tab.
The tablet Museum app
Press B and open Museum. Before you found the museum it says "The museum is not founded yet." The tabs, in order:
- Overview: Open or Closed, Placed artifacts, Next milestone and the Box hunt by region.
- Collection: every artifact. Filters: All, Placed, Waiting (includes ones you carry) and Not opened. Each entry shows its state: Not opened yet, Opened, not placed yet or Placed. Counters: "Discovered: {N}/{N}" and "On display: {N}/{N}". Locked entries show a silhouette and "Spot {N}".

If something goes wrong with a save
If the museum data cannot be read, the game shows a message. Some messages ask you to restart the game or update it. If there is no backup, the museum may start empty.
Tips
- Stuck on a hunt? Ask the curator for a hint.
- Check Box hunt in the tablet to see which regions still have boxes.
- Pick up boxes with an empty hotbar slot ready.
- Watch the price feedback texts when you change ticket prices.
- Collect the till from the tablet when you are far from the museum.
