An empty warehouse that you fill
The warehouse starts empty. Nothing big is fixed to the floor. You buy what you need on the tablet and place it yourself: shelves, a Packing Table, freezers and the other warehouse gear.
The warehouse shop
How to open it: tablet, Shops, pick the warehouse supplier, press Open. Items are bought with Buy. The shop tells you when something stops you:
- "Get a warehouse first to buy from this store."
- "Reach level {0} to buy this." This is your player level, not the warehouse level.
- "Not enough cash for this purchase."
Item details show how many you already Owned and that you can sell it back to the Merchant for part of the price. The starter items (trash bin, starter shelf, packing table) are listed first. A few warehouse items exist in the game data but are not on sale right now, so they are not on the shop list.
Placing furniture
- Order the item in the shop. It arrives in a box.
- Pick up the box and Unpack it (C, gamepad: left face button).
- Aim, then place the item. If the spot is refused, the message tells you why: it is in the air, on the wrong surface, something is in the way, too close to a door, the goods receiving area must stay clear, an open lane must stay clear, or it would block the way to the door.
Placement also keeps pallet sides reachable, keeps standing room at packing tables and keeps doors open. Pallets and lane posts may stand in the shipping lanes and in front of loading shutters, ordinary furniture may not.
Hold Sprint while placing for Free placement. That turns off grid and magnet help. Without it, items can snap flush beside a neighbour. A held order box aimed near a shelf slot snaps into a free slot.
Shelves can stand anywhere the placement check allows. There are no fixed shelf bays.
Tip: always leave a clear path from the door to every shelf.
Levels
What it is: the warehouse has 10 levels. Higher levels open more rooms (they open empty, you furnish them), more staff slots and more automation. A higher level also changes the daily rent of the warehouse.
How to level up: research Warehouse Solutions I to Warehouse Solutions IX in R&D. Each step lifts the warehouse by one level.
| Level | What it brings |
|---|---|
| 1 | the entrance hall and the first freezer area |
| 2 | the next room and the first staff slot |
| 3 | the Local lane, Local auto pickup and one more room |
| 4 | a second freezer area and one more staff slot |
| 5 | the wholesaler goods-in room and one more room |
| 6 | the service door, one more room and one more staff slot |
| 7 | the In-City lane, the delivery drone and one more room |
| 8 | the International lane (you send by hand), the last room and one more staff slot |
| 9 | automatic taping and labelling at the packing tables |
| 10 | International auto pickup |
Levels 9 and 10 add no rooms or staff slots. The loading shutters for Local, goods-in, In-City and International open together with their areas. The research and shop screens show the level a feature needs when it is locked.
Accepting an order
When you accept an order on the tablet, the box goes into your hand if you have a free inventory slot. If your hands are full, it goes into the queue of a packing table. If you have no table, accepting still works and the game says: "No packing table. Buy one from your tablet and place it in the warehouse." If both your hands and the queues are full, accepting is refused and the order stays pending: "Bench full: pack a waiting box first".
New queued boxes go to the table with the fewest waiting boxes. When you take a lower box out of a stack, the rest move down.
Packing a box
- Take the box in your hand.
- Click the marked products on your shelves until the box is full.
- Put the box on the Packing Table work spot. Only an order box goes on the bench. A table holds one work box and stays occupied until you take that box off, even when it is finished.
- Click the tape roll that matches the order. Local, In-City and International each have their own tape colour. A wrong roll is refused with a message.
- Click the label printer. The label sticks to the box.
- Take the sealed box.
If something is off, the game says so: "Products are missing. Take the box and fill it." when you try to tape an incomplete box, "This box is already taped", "This order cannot be packed now". In co-op, a table somebody else is using says "Someone else is using this table".
Workers with the Packing task prepare boxes for you and take them to a pallet. Several tables work side by side, a free worker uses any table that is free. See the Employees page.
Automatic packing (level 9)
From level 9, a complete box standing on a packing table work spot is taped and labelled automatically, with the right tape for its cargo type. A box that is still missing products does not start. You do not need to buy a separate machine for this.
Freezers
Cold products need a freezer. Buy one in the warehouse shop and place it in the warehouse. Freezer areas open at levels 1 and 4.
Automation
At the higher levels, boxes leave on their own: Local first (level 3), then In-City by drone (level 7), then International (level 10). The In-City upgrade turns on the delivery drone. Details and requirements are on the Online orders page. You can always carry boxes yourself.
Older saves
If you played before the warehouse update, you got a one-time conversion:
- The rooms and automation you could use were kept. A researched delivery right that you could not use yet was refunded instead.
- Furniture you had placed moved into Safekeeping on the tablet. Take it out and place it again.
- A window explains this the first time you load the game. In co-op only the host sees it.
Tips
- Keep the lanes on the floor and the area in front of the door clear.
- Pick the right tape before you start taping.
- Put the first packing table where you walk anyway.
- Use more than one packing table once orders stack up.
