Getting started

The New Game screen, building your character, and the first steps of the objective list. By the end you will know what the tutorial asks of you and why.

Updated 3 November 2026

The New Game screen

  1. On the main menu choose New Game. There are 9 save slots. If all 9 are full, delete one to start a new game.
  2. Pick Solo or Online co-op as the mode. For co-op you also choose who can join: Invite code only, Friends or Public. Co-op has its own page.
  3. Type a company name for the new game.
  4. There is a switch for Guidance markers. These are the markers that point you to your current objective. Leave it on while you learn the game.
  5. Press Start to move on to the character creator.

Building your character

  1. Choose gender, skin tone, hair style, hair color and a starter outfit.
  2. Press Random for a quick start. Drag with the mouse to rotate your character and look from every side.
  3. Type a name. Use letters, spaces and hyphens only. The first character must be a letter, and the name needs to be between 2 and 20 characters.
  4. Press Confirm.

You can change your look later at the Clothing Shop (see the FAQ page).

The objective list

The objective box at the top left walks you through the first steps. Each step has a hint; if a step seems stuck, read the hint again. Press Tab during play to see your level, XP, reputation and the overall state of your business.

The steps come in this order:

  1. Meet your uncle. Talk to him and ask why you are here. When you finish the conversation you receive your starting money.
  2. Rent a house. Talk to the real estate agent in front of you.
  3. Start your company. Visit the Company Registrar (Registration Office) on the map. Pick a company type, give it a name, optionally a motto, and pay the fee.
  4. Rent a warehouse. Talk to the estate agent that handles warehouses.
  5. Buy a trash can. Open your tablet (B), go to the Shops app and order a trash can for the warehouse. Then pick up trash and throw it into the bin.
  6. Research the toy market. Open the R&D app on your tablet (it lives under Company) and start with the toy market research.
  7. Buy shelves. Order shelves in the Shops app.
  8. Buy a packing table. Order it from the warehouse shop. It arrives in a box: open the box, then place the table on the warehouse floor. Orders are packed here.
  9. Buy your first products. Go to a wholesaler in the city and buy some toys. Bus stops are the fast way to get around.
  10. Unpack and shelve. Grab the boxes at the door, carry them in, unpack them and put the products on your shelves.
  11. Set your prices. A price that is too high stops orders; a price that is too low leaves no profit.
  12. Run an ad campaign. Visit the Marketing Agency and start a campaign.
  13. Fill your first order. Accept an order in the Orders app. Fill its box at your shelves, put the box on the packing table, click the tape roll that matches the cargo type, then click the label printer.
  14. Deliver the order. Take the sealed box to the cargo store, put it on the pallet and have the clerk send it. Payment arrives on its own when the delivery is complete.
  15. Save your game. Go home and save.

There is also an optional bonus goal: complete 10 toy orders before the timer runs out.

Good to know

  • Money belongs to the company. Your balance and the day are shown at the top right of the screen.
  • Your health, energy and hunger rings are at the bottom left. See the Needs page.
  • Save regularly yourself. In co-op, some recovery steps also make automatic checkpoints, but do not rely on them (see the Saving page).
  • Bus stops are your fast travel. A ride can cost money, so keep a little cash.

Tips

  • Read each hint before you walk away. It saves a lot of walking.
  • Keep your tablet handy: orders, stock, research and shopping all run from it.
  • You do not need a car in the first hours. Use the bus stops.
  • Save before you quit, every time. Save and quit in the pause menu does both.
